Sports psychology and helping teens
One of the interesting aspects of the American culture is its obssession to sports. We go crazy over our sports stars. Our pro sports team is important for us to be winning. Even the sports that our children play is also affected by these obsession. So much so that it can get ugly sometimes.
I have noticed this trend running a family therapist San Diego service. A lot of times teenagers and parents put so much stress on these games it gets out of hand. Of course it doesn’t happen all the times but it does happen. The need for counseling is needed at those instances.
I have seen this a lot when parents stress so much in their children succeeding that they need a counselor or psychologist. I have a lot of parents come into my sports psychologist San Diego office wanting too much out of their kids. This will lead to a lot of stress and problems. This sometimes strains relationships. So rather than needing help succeeding in sports they need help resolving some family issues.
Teenagers really feel the need for help during those times. I help a lot of teens in my teen counseling San Diego work who can’t take the pressure it puts on them.It is already time to work also with the family if that happens. And with some good counseling sessions and advice a lot of the problems can be resolved.
These should be attended to immediately if it happens because these are extreme cases. It is now time for us to control our obsession on sports. So if we can do that then we resolve the issues of those strained relationships. But that is the key.To stop problems from getting worse by preventing it in its early stages. This makes for happier and productive families.
